If we had unlimited money resources, that's a big IF, how many would you suggest we buy?
One a grade level?
One a subject per grade level? meaning one for 5th grade math, one for 5th grade science, one for 5th grade S.S., etc.
One per classroom?
A different option?

Thanks!

  1. I would recommend one camera per core and the teachers within that core could share it. They could be signed out by special area teachers, as well, just like projectors, laptop carts, computer labs, etc.

  2. jenn suggested for high school perhaps 2/3 per department and they can sign them out and share.

right now our school has 5 of them for the whole school, but no one knew we had them. it does need to be brought up to the faculty and perhaps it can expand to the different departments from there. they need to be trained to see how easy it is to use and all the ways they can use it.

  3. I think it depends on how many students are per grade/subject. It really needs to estimated according to the population, but I think it should be about 1/2 per department. Rotate usage of the cameras like a mobile lab cart.
Also a suggestion - there could be a class just about the use of the flip camera and students build their own presentations based on what they film and edit. It could be a cycle class and only take a few weeks.

  4. i was misinformed, we have 13 according to our technology director linda fischer. she said that students have signed them out on their own to do projects and stuff.

  5. As far as numbers, we have 5 5th grade cores, 5 subject departments so I think we'll end up needing 5 a grade level regardless what the basis is. Glad everyone has similar opinions- consistency always helps :O) Thanks for the input!
